Santa Barbara

This gorgeous costal city is accessible via train and the ride is really pretty. This city is perfect for any kind of vacation. There are plenty of art galleries, an endless amount of wine rooms, and many delicious restaurants. Santa Barbara is nestled right in between the mountains and the ocean, so there is no shortage of outdoor adventures.

San Diego

If you’re in the mood for the beach and the city, San Diego is your place. You can hop on the train you’ll be there in about 3 and a half hours. Once you’re here, there’s plenty of things to check out. You can hop on a boat and head out to Coronado, where you can check out the Hotel del Coronado and the great beaches. Check out La Jolla for a small-town vibe with delicious food and tons of art. The Gaslamp District in San Diego is a great spot for dining and nightlife.

Big Bear

This city is best known for as an escape for skiing and snowboarding during the winter months, but it’s actually a great getaway at all times of the year! Enjoy the quiet atmosphere and spend the weekend hiking and hanging out in The Village (the heart of Big Bear Lake, the central hub for shopping and dining). If you’re up for it, try mountain-biking through the trails!

Balboa Island

If you need a quick getaway, drive down to Newport and hop on the ferry to Balboa Island! This quaint little community has great shops and restaurants (amazing fresh seafood!). Rent a duffy for the day and boat around the harbor. Spend the day paddle boarding or lounging at the beach. If you have a sweet tooth - make sure you have one (or both!) of Balboa’s famous desserts, the Balboa Bar and Frozen Banana!

Palm Springs

If you’re craving some desert air, hop in the car and drive on down to Palm Springs. This city is known for being a spot of rest and relaxation. Enjoy a couple of days lounging by the pool and getting spa treatments. Make sure you stop at the wind mills for a photo opp!

Catalina Island

If you don’t have the time for a full-weekend-getaway, hop on the ferry and spend the day on Catalina Island. If you want to spend the whole weekend here, there’s plenty of stuff to do! If you’re up for an adventure, try scuba diving, hiking, parasailing, or paddle boarding. Feeling like relaxing? Stroll through the shops or plan a day at a spa. (tip - the ferry is free on your birthday!)
